Terms of Service

These terms cover your use of Focus Timer. They are written to be read, not skimmed, so they are short. If anything is unclear, email contact@focustimer.org.

1. Acceptance

By using Focus Timer you agree to these terms and to our privacy policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the site.

2. The service

Focus Timer is a browser-based work and break timer. It includes the timer, task list, sounds, notifications and keyboard shortcuts, and it shows ads served by Google AdSense. It is free, and you do not need an account to use it. We may change or improve features over time, and we will try not to remove anything you rely on without notice.

3. Acceptable use

Please do not:

• attempt to break, overload or gain unauthorised access to the service or its infrastructure;
• scrape, copy or redistribute the site or its content for commercial purposes;
• use automated means to click or interact with ads;
• use the service for anything unlawful.

4. Content and ownership

The tasks and settings you enter are yours, and they stay in your browser. The Focus Timer name, design and code remain ours. Blog articles may be quoted with attribution and a link.

5. No warranty

Focus Timer is provided as is. We work hard to keep it accurate and available, but it is a small independent project and we cannot promise it will always be free of bugs, always online, or suitable for any particular purpose. Do not rely on it for anything where a missed timer would cause real harm.

6. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses arising from your use of Focus Timer, including lost data, lost time or lost profits. Our total liability to you for any claim is limited to the amount you have paid us, which is nothing. Nothing in these terms limits rights that cannot be limited under the law where you live.

7. Availability

We may change, suspend or discontinue Focus Timer, in whole or in part, at any time. We may also block access for anyone who breaks the rules in section 3. We will give reasonable notice on the site before shutting the service down for good, but we cannot promise it will always be available.

8. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of Japan. Any dispute arising from them will be submitted to the Tokyo District Court as the exclusive court of first instance, unless the law where you live gives you a right to something different.

9. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms occasionally. When we do, the date at the top changes. Continued use after a change means you accept the new terms.
